Our three nationwide magazines (UNICUM ABI, UNICUM and UNICUM BERUF), our website www.UNICUM.de and a wide range of campus promotion (e.g. posters, postcards, sampling, media distribution, etc.) and sponsoring options, offer various advertising opportunities to address the young intelligent audience directly.

The company UNICUM Verlag GmbH is based in Bochum, Germany and supports your business in brand advertising or recruitment campaigns. Our company has a team of approximately forty employees and more than a hundred steady freelancers e.g. in the editorial or distributing department.

Company History

The track record begins in summer 1981. Manfred Baldschus and some fellow students draw up UNICUM. By the beginning of winter semester 1983/84 the first edition of an independent college magazine is published. From that day forth, the collegiate formation turnes into a succeeding media business.
In 1985 Manfred Baldschus and Joachim Berger found the UNICUM Verlag GmbH, one year later Hermann-Josef Billstein became co-owner. Since that time, UNICUM is monthly released throughout Germany with 400.000 copies. In 1990 the product range was supplemented with the UNICUM ABI high school magazine. Ten times a year, 250.000 copies are distributed to more than 2.800 German secondary schools.
Six years later the UNICUM website started successfully - as one of the first movers in media business. Since then, www.UNICUM.de offers an interactive, entertaining and informative Internet service, providing relevant facts dealing with university-entrance diploma, studies and entering employment. The www.UNICUM.de Career Center started in spring 2000.
With due diligence the publishing house strives to remain attractive for graduates beyond the duration of study. Therefore, at the end of 1998 the magazine UNICUM BERUF ("BERUF" meaning "JOB") with 200.000 copies was established. It is mainly dedicated to the topic employment entering and career. Since 2006/2007, the product range again has been extended: UNIQUEEN and UNIKING are biannual lifestyle magazines especially for female or male students, each with a circulation of 125.000 copies per issue.
